Dr Richard Hatchett—CEO of CEPI—addressed these big questions in a speech at the University of Oslo earlier this month, as he accepted an honorary doctorate—awarded for his “outstanding strategic and scientific leadership of CEPI, which has contributed to increased global ability to deal with a number of existing infectious diseases and increased preparedness to prevent the development of a new possible pandemic of Disease X”.
